How I Work
I like to consider both individual and couples therapy as modes of ongoing, transformative conversation that evolves and deepens over the course of time as new communication skills beget insight and self-knowledge. Above all, I value the confidentiality of our working relationship that ensures privacy in honor of our mutual commitment to growth, health, and change.
People elect to come to therapy from a multitude of backgrounds with varying needs. Not all problems are life threatening, but many, such as depression, anxiety, and addictions, are life destroying. As are low self-esteem, fear, under-achieving, shame, and guilt. Inner states of self-appraisal are endless and the cause of deep emotional pain. They can prevent us from living productive, creative lives and from the pleasures of rewarding relationships.
Participation in the process of private, confidential psychoanalytic-psychotherapy is unique among all relationships. I bring my experience from training in a number of schools of psychoanalysis, that includes Classic and Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Jungian Analytical Psychology, Couples Imago Therapy, and a specialization in Adult and Childhood Onset Trauma, with experience in a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) medical and mental health facility.
Contact me to arrange an initial consultation. Once we meet and agree to work together, a commitment to once weekly appointments at a mutually agreed upon time ensures the efficacy of our work. I offer a moderate sliding scale of between $80 and $150, dependent upon each individual’s financial circumstances.
